The Market, Cheese and Feelings
Apr 29th
I was talking to my team yesterday and we were discussing the market and the general sentiment.
Now those of you who know me will know that I don’t subscribe to a “market downturn” of any kind.
The market just changed. (yes it’s as simple as that)
It’s only our knowledge of the past that determines how we look at the current situation. I mean if you were to wake up today after being asleep for 10 years.. would you say that things are bad?
No way.
There is so much opportunity out there right now… all you have to do is look… HOWEVER… the market has changed… so you can’t look in places where you used to look. There are new, more exciting places to find opportunity… and there’s so much opportunity (and so many places to look).
It’s a shame that our view of the past affects how we look at things today… but that’s the reality. People’s feelings affect everything.
We live in a world we we all allow our feelings to be controlled (much too often) by others. (Isn’t that crazy?).
However… we starting to see those feelings change…
Is it that people have just got fed up with feeling bad?
Is is that people have got used to feeling bad… and it’s no longer news worthy?
No idea.
But they are changing.
When our feelings change so does the world… the signs of change are everywhere. It’s happening one person at a time… one person saying “I’ll invest” or “things are not so bad”.
The next few years are going to be an amazing time… what will our new world look like? what will the opportunities be? Where will you fit in?
As this great new time unfolds before our eyes, and you find your new place in this new world.. remember one thing… don’t get too comfortable, and like Hem in the story of “who moved my cheese” – keeping your running shoes tied around your neck.
You never know when it’s time to run and find new cheese.
Day 4 – “Trust Your Feelings Luke”
Feb 19th
OK – today’s lesson doesn’t refer to Luke Skywalker and Star Wars (but it did remind of the film when Luke was told “to trust his feelings”). In fact today’s lesson is about trusting your feelings, and how the universe is communicating with you through them
This seems strange.
The universe communicating with me? Through my feelings? providing me with feedback?
It says
“The good feelings mean, GOOD FOR YOU. The bad feelings are to get your attention so that you will change what you are focusing on”
So I guess … when I feel bad all I have to do is is to change what I’m focusing on … sounds simple enough
I’ll have to give that a shot.
However, all this seems related to a recent incident…
Over the past 2 weeks or so I have been rather annoyed about something -”feeling bad about it” was an understatement, and the more I focused on that one thing, the more angry I got about it, and the more angry I got about it , the more angry I got about everyone and everything else - including me!
However over the last few days I’ve done three significant things
- I’ve let that go, forgiven, and started focusing on the good in that person (and there is a HUGE LOT of good
) - I’ve started to trust people more – and I an tell you that feels great! (The “Speed of Trust” book has also had an influence on this).
- I’ve forgiven myself (Thank you Isabel for that insight
.. those two “forgive yourself” words are so powerful)
Well…needless to say, I’m feeling better!
So I think I understand (to some extent) what today’s lesson is about … but I think I’ve got some way to go to fully appreciate and use it
I’ll let you know how it goes as I listen to my feelings.
Take care
Sunil
